Italian artist Massimiliano Pelletti is an amazingly talented sculptor, but what makes some of her works truly breathtaking are the portions of stone that she leaves untouched. Using white onyx as her medium, she deftly creates stunning busts that are on par with some of the greatest of any era. However, where most sculptors would not stop until the entire piece is completed to traditional standards, Pelletti leaves the crystalline edges of the onyx, adding a natural and almost surreal new take to a classic art form.

I really like these and find them intriguing and perhaps a little disturbing. Seeing the unfinished part reminds me of “insides” of a human body. I appreciate the exposure of process.
Artists deserve respect. Even if it bothers you and you don't like their work; refrain from negative opinions, non-constructive remarks. Opt for an objective analysis of the work as well as a good understanding of the author's intentions..Thx Cancel reply
